The other night, I had a cold, and since I am a baby when I\u2019m sick, Freddie<\/a> came to Brooklyn, I piled blankets on the sofa, and we watched\u2026<\/p>\n \u2026The Firm<\/a>, the 1993 legal thriller starring Tom Cruise and Jeanne Tripplehorn. Have you seen it? First off, I did NOT remember the movie being two hours and 34 minutes! Still, the story flies by \u2014\u00a0Harvard grad Mitch McDeere lands a job with a prestigious Memphis law firm, which, we soon discover, has dirty secrets. One of the melodramatic lines that Tom Cruise pulls off beautifully: \u201cHey, Ray, wouldn\u2019t it be funny if I went to Harvard, you went to jail, and we both ended up surrounded by crooks?\u201d<\/p>\n We enjoyed it so much that Freddie suggested we do a Tom Cruise movie marathon this fall (think: Risky Business, Top Gun, The Outsiders\u2026). So, last night, we watched Cocktail<\/a>, the entertaining but truly<\/em> terrible movie about a bartender trying to make it big. It got a 9% on Rotten Tomatoes.<\/p>\n After watching a slew of Tom Cruise movies, maybe we\u2019ll pick another actor: Olivia Colman? Pedro Pascal? Steve Carell? Queen Latifah? Have you ever chosen an actor (or author) and watched (or read) a bunch of their work?<\/p>\n No clue about the ice situation in Freddie\u2019s glass<\/em><\/p>\n Also, a little update: Freddie has been spending more time with the boys<\/a>, which has been wonderful.<\/p>\n And even Georgie<\/a> approves. xo<\/p>\n P.S.
