If you’re torn between launching an agency and building a SaaS product, here’s what you need to know.
With SaaS, you have to be very technical because you’re basically building a tech company. On the other hand, you can easily start an agency with your network.
Although an agency involves diving deep into strategies, you might face a scalability problem. However, if you’re good at working with people, then an agency is your best bet.
Making a SaaS product work is tough because you have to throw all your money at marketing. If the product is not great, this business model will simply not work. You should aim for customer lifetime value with SaaS products if you want sustainability. You also need people’s vote of confidence for your SaaS product, and people won’t recommend it if it’s a bad one. With SaaS, you have to scale quickly, otherwise, your competitors can steal your idea and leapfrog you. A good strategy, if you’re in the SaaS space, is to make tools for internal use before eventually offering them to clients.
